Weekend Wonderings
Weekend Wonderings (formerly Weekend Nature Club) is a family-friendly introduction to the plants, animals, and ecology of the Red River Gorge region. Join us as we gather monthly to learn, explore, and play together. Each month we will explore a seasonally appropriate nature topic that elicits wonder and excitement for all ages. Time is nature is a great way to bond as a family, unplug, and unwind from a long week. Our campus at The Wilds has been sculpted to attract as much wildlife as possible thanks to its previous caretakers, regional herpetologist and local educator Dan and Judy Dourson, respectively, so there is much to see and learn about! We make time in every session to offer free play in nature with other children and families. This has become a cornerstone of all Red Oaks programming and has helped to shape and build our community. Child-led inquiry and discovery lead to moments of awe and wonder that are important developmentally, but also for our mental health as supported by many research studies.
Location
Red Oaks at The Wilds - Join Christina for this weekend series. This program is great for all ages. Registration is for individual class sign-ups, advanced registration is required.
Dates and times
Weekend Wonderings is offered every third Saturday afternoon throughout the year ending in November. This program is from 2-5 pm.

February 17 - Clouds
March 16 - Ferns
April 20 - Birds
May 18 - Butterflies
Cost per class
Members: $25 for parents/caregiver and 2 children, $5 per additional children age 2+
Non-Members: $35 for parents/caregiver and 2 children, $10 per additional child age 2+
Our Weekend Wonderings is for everyone! We encourage people from all backgrounds to join us. Scholarships and financial assistance is available in order to remove any barriers to participation. Please inquire for more information to info@redoaksforestschool.org.

Registration for Winter and Spring programming is open January 8, 2024 for members and January 10, 2024 for non-members. Applications for financial support are due December 15th, 2023.
